BANDITRY IN BRITAIN

THIEVES IN MOTOR-CARS

EPISODES IN MID-LONDON

LONDON, 19th October. The growth of banditry in Britain, usually associated with young thieves in stolen motor-cars, is illustrated by sensational episodes in. mid-London to-day. Four armed men entered a jeweller's shop in Houndsditch and stole several thousand pounds' worth of jewels after knocking ono assistant senseless with the butt of a revolver and gagging the manager. The assailants escaped in broad daylight through streets full of Londoners coming to business. Another outrage occurred at Euston Station this, evening, where bandits felled a postman and stole a sack'of registered letters for the Irish mail. The assailants escaped in a saloon car. The International cable news appearing In this Issue is published by arrangement with the Australian Press Association and the "San," "Herald," Kews Office, Limited.
