The commodity and stock markets, but particularly the Chicago Wheat Pit, received a thrill to-day when an unconfirmed rumour' was circulated that Mr. Henry Ford would announce late in the evening during a radio address his intention to buy 75 million bushels of wheat at 60 cents a bushel and to sell it to China on seven years' credit.' Wheat gained a cent. Stocks rose one to four, points, and commodity prices responded, but Ford organisation officials immediately denied the report. ■ Mr. Ford, who recently counselled all his employees to vote for President Hoover, to-night in his first appearance before the microphone urged the nation to re-elect the President.
