PETONE CATHOLIC CLUB
A large attendance marked the opening of the Petone Catholic Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. In declaring the courts open for the 1932-33 season, the president, the Rev. Father J. Murphy, expressed pleasure at the large gathering, and wished all a very enjoyable afternoon's tennis. A progressive tournament was held,, and the ultimate winners were Mies E. Powell (Petone) and Mr. J. J. Nixon (St. Anne's). Owing to the absence of the club captain, Mr. N. McGurk. the running of the tournament was in the hands of Mr. J. L. Butler. Among those present were the Rev. Father Rowan (Lower Hutt). Mesdames McGurk, Robertson. Bowles, Burke, Butler, and Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas, Misses Burke, Fitzmaurice, 0. and G. McGurk, L. and E. Griffin, Hungerford.^Murphy, WieklilYe, Nicholas, Butler, Keating, Read, Gamble, Borlace, O'Leary, M. and L. Weybourne, Messrs. Nixon, Laracy, Bethell, G'ornrui: Hunt. Hepburn, J). and J. Ryan, Wickliffe, McGlinchcy. H. Butler, O'Connell. Scott, Burke, Gamble, Brown, Voltz, and others.
