While the High Commissioner was on holiday at Harrogate he bought a very attractive little West Highland terrier, which ho hopes to take back with him to New Zealand. It comes from the famous Hilda Shaw Columbine Kennels at Burton Leonard, and bears the name of Columbine Cuala.' He wou four first prizes as a puppy, and tho first prizo in tho open class last jnonth at Manchester.' His pedigree includes the names of six champions. Miss McLean has returned to London after a few weeks spent at Wcs-ton-super-Mare with Mrs. Alice Kingston, daughter of the lato Dr. Caughtrey, Dunedin. Captain and Mrs. A. "V. McDonald (nee Helen Mackenzie) have been in England for seven weeks on short leave from India. They had a delightful time, visiting friends and motoring in the South. They made their headquarters at Tunbridge Wells. Next yeVr Captain McDonald is due for long leave, and they are thinking of visiting Australia and New Zealand as-well as England. They are now on their way back to Secunderabad, a large military station. Miss Mary Hursthouse (formerly of Victoria "University College, Wellington), who has received permission to sit for her final B.A. examination in London, will afterwards go to Paris to take' a course at the Sorbonuc. The Misses J. and L. Tomlinson (Nelson) have left by the Tainui, thus bringing to a closo a very pleasant four months' trip to tho Mother Country. They have had many interesting tours, including a week in Paris, and they have -mado the acquaintance of relatives of their parents, some of whom live in Devonshire and others in Kent. The cathedral cities have been much appreciated. After a run of 150 performances, Mr. J. B. Priestley's play, "Dangerous Corner," will be withdrawn iv a fortnight's time because the Lyric Theatre is to be rebuilt. The play will go on tour to outer London, and to provincial centres. Miss Mario Ney will be one of tlie members of the company to travel with the play. She has one of the leading parts. . Miss Gwen Fcnwick (Christehurch) and her mother spent a fortnight during August motoring in Scotland. They wont via, Edinburgh-to. John 0' Groats, and south Via the Caledonian Canal. Several days were-spent touring the English Lake District on their return to London. Miss renwiek has been nursing in London, also in Sussex and Surrey, since Easter, and. professional duty will take her next to Scotland.
