■_~ , .DUNEDIN, ldth September. The touring AVellington Rugby team defeated Otago at Carisbrook Park to-day in the last local representative game of the season by 14 points to 11. It was their hrst win on the tour. Otago attacked from he kick off, and the Blue backs were almost across on two occasions. Otago were awarded a- penalty about 45 yards out and Findlay kicked a goal. For the next ten minutes Wellington were on the attack, but the Ota«o defence was sound and the Wellington backs were unable to get far. At last Lamason slipped round the side* of the serum and, catching the Otago backs napping, broke through to the full-back. He passed to McLean, who went over under the posts. Neal's kick hit the post Otago rushed play to the other end of the field, and Hamilton crossed, but was recalled for an infringement. Hard play followed on Wellington's line till Simon fought his way over to score. The kick at goal failed. Otago kept up the pressure, but the Wellington backs broke away from inside half-way, Pollock cutting in well before passing to Maedonald Ihe latter was well taken by Allen, but McLean came up in support and got almos,t to the Otago line before being tackled. Lamason was.handy and picked up and scored well out. The kick failed. The half-time whistle sounded with play at halt-way. . WELLINGTON'S SECOND SPELL. Wellington were almost across at the start of the second spell, but the Otago backs broke, away from their own line to half-way.. Ihe Otago forwards attacked hotly, and Simon picked up .in the loose Dunne crossing, well out after several players had handled. Allen converted. Griffiths sent'his backs away from half-way, Hislop putting in a good run up the line till tackled by Allen; The Wellington forwards and backs backed' up well, and Pollock picked up, running round to score behind the^ posts. Pollock converted. Lamason broke through to the full-back, and threw out along pass to Robins, to Pollock the latter crossing. The kick failed. In the closing stages Otago made desperate attempts to score, but the Wellington defence was too solid.
