The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 10th September, from the High Commissioner for Aew. Zealand, London:—Tallow: Market firm but-quiet. Moderate business has been done at values nominally unchanged. Hemp: Manila market quiet but steady at last rates quoted. Sisal: Market firm with good inquiry. Sellers, reserved. Closing value for No. 1 good marks for Sep-tember-November shipment, £16 10s New Zealand: Market" quiet. Small business has been done in common at £14 Nominal closing values for SeptemberOctober shipment, highpoints £15 15s, and fair £14 155.. • :•..' ,-.- ..
In furtherance of a determination to encourage home production the Egyptian Government has recently increased the duty on imported flour and wheat by about 18s and 15s per ton respectively. These duties make imports almost prohibitive,
