YOUTH FOR YOUTH
RALLY AT PETONE
I In continuance of the Youth for Youth campaign a rally 'of young people was held yesterday afternoon in the Grand Theatre, Petone. j Members of practically all the Bible j classes in the Hutt Valley, besides other j religious organisations, were present. Members of the Toe H Hutt Valley! group were present and assisted as stewards. The hall was filled.and many | were unable to obtain admission. The president of the Hutt Valley Christian Youth Council, Mr. J. S. Reid, presided, land with him on the platform were the i Revs. G. V. Gerard, Robin Adair, and | J. T. Crozier. There were also present the Mayors of Lower Hutt (Mr. W. T. Strand) and Petone (Mr. D. McKenzie), and Mr. W. Nash, M.P. Devotions were conducted by the Rev. G. V. Gerard, and selections were sung by the S.A. staff college choir, and a solo by tho Rev. J. T. Crozier. St. | Stephen's orchestra rendered a voluntary. The Rev. Robin Adair, in his address from the text '' Narrow is the way that leadeth unto life," said it would be false to say that Christian living was an easy thing. Self-realisa-tion meant self-renunciation. No great thing in life could be achieved without effort, and Christ called for and claimed the whole of a man's life. As Garibaldi called for volunteers to a life of hardships in the service of their country, so Christ called for self-renunci-ation in the highest of all. service. The speaker appealed to youth to enlist in Chirst's service. -. , ' Special services are being conducted during the week by Canon James in St. David's (Petone), the Rev. Robin Adair in St. Augustine's (Petone), the Rev. H. W. Newell, Methodist (Lower Hutt), the Rev. R. J. Howie Knox (Lower Hutt), and the Rev. W. Raine, St. James's (Lower Hutt).
