PROSPECTS FOR MARTON

High Commissioner, who is an entrant for the Hack Hurdles at Marton, is an aged All Red—Little Footsteps gelding who has not yet done much racing, but who is stated from the North to be a promising sort of jumper. He was bred in the Rangitikei district, and is now owned by his trainer, F. Tutchen. His best, performance to date was in finishing second to Paddon in the Maiden Hurdles at To Rapa in May, and as a result o£ this effort he was in " good demand at the Great Northern Meeting in June, but the formidable Ellerslie obstacles troubled him. The easjer nature of the Marton fences should suit Mm, and with 0.5 he is expected to give a good account of himself

Senorita. a three-year-old half-sister by Whirlwind to last season's G.N. Oaks trailer, Speedmint, will probably accompany High Commissioner to Marton and will contest the hack five furlongs. This filly, vtas started on only four occasions last season, and finished handy to the placed horses each time, after being prominent from the barrier rise. She has developed a good deal since she was last raced, and should have her turn as a stakeearner mis' season. Tntclien .holds quite a high opinion about her.
