(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 29th August. Yesterday afternoon a light truck driven by Mr. James Ching, of Wakefield, collided with a larger motor truck near Glenhope, resulting hv injuries to Mr. Ching's two sons, Allan and Casey, Allan a badlycut face and Casey severe concussion of the spine. , There were squally showers from the south-east on Saturday night. Last night also was stormy and boisterous, but not much rain fell, only .24 of an inch being recorded at the Cawthron meteorological Station UP to 9 o'clock this morning. There was a heavy fall of snow on ilaungaTli'e death occurred suddenly last night of Miss Emily R. Smith, of Mount street. Miss Smith and her brother, Mr. W. E. Smith, had spent a portion of the evening at the piano, and shortly after retiring Miss Smith called her brother, complaining of illness. She died a quarter of an hour later. An inquest will be held. The Nelson Plunket Society held its annual children's fancy dress party on Saturday, and-in the evening the fancy dress ball. Many striking and original costumes were worn. ..'.•• On Saturday Athletic Old Boys held the Association football McCarthy Cup against Celtic's challenge. Neither side scored. The Nelson junior Rugby representatives on Saturday successfully defended the Ryder Cup by defeating Golden BayMotueka by 24 points to 8. At the week-end.three Marlborough hockey representative teams travelled to Nelson. The Nelson men's, representatives beat Marlborough by 6 goals to 2. The Marlborough B representatives beat the Nelson junior representatives by 6 goals to 5, and the Nelson ladies defeated Marlborough by 3 goals to' 1;
