UNLAWFUL POSSESSION
VICTIM OF THE WAR
. (By Telegraph.—Press Association ) AUCKLAND; This Day. When Norman Kenneth Sligo (32) came before the Court to-day on a charge of knowingly having in his possession a dangerous drug, evidence was given that he had been taking a certain drug ever since the war, where he was severely injured as the result of a gun backfiring on a battleship. Part of his abdomen was blown away, and he had since undergone 35 Operations. He suffered such acute pain that the drug was essential to him. He made no attempt to traffic in drugs. ■ Tho Magistrate fined him £11, in default a month in prison, saying that if he could not get the drug from a doctor in the proper way he' should make representations to , the proper authority.
A young man, aged. 19, whose name was suppressed, admitted stealing drugs from the Apn which employed him and supplying them to Sligo. He was convicted and placed on probation.
