Tho request was made to the Wellington -Acclimatisation Society on Wednesday night by its Palmerston North branch that the Taupo trout fishing regulations . should be altered to suit New Zealand anglers, instead of only those from overseas. Anglers fishing- on Lake Taupo must now procure a Eotorua licence if they wish to fish below Huka Falls. On tho motion of Mr. E. H. Nimmo, it was decided that it bo a remit to tho annual meeting of the associated societies that the Talipo licence'area be extended to a mile below the Aratiatia rapids, a notice board to bo erected to mark the Taupo limit. Members generally wero fully in accord with the proposal.

One of the rarest known animals, a bongo, a species of buck which has never before been kept in captivity, is to be sent to the London Zoo from Kenya.
