RECORDS AND WINS

NEW ZEALAND'S OLYMPIC

TEAM

Brief reference, more or1 less of an informal nature, was made at last evening's meeting of the Council of the Now Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association to the performances of tho New Zealand team at the Olympic Games at Los Angeles.

. Mr. G. P. Aldridge said he had been twitted about the showing made by the three boxing representatives. "I think we should be perfectly satisfied that the boys put up a good showing, even though they were eliminated in their first bouts, and I have no doubt that the same remarks apply to the other athletes," said Mr. Aldridge.

The chairman (Mr. H. Amos): I don't think there should be any doubt about that. I think the team made quite a good showing on the whole. We cannot say anything more until we get further de-, tails. .

"A most extraordinary number of records have been broken," remarked Mr E. S. Innes.

Mr. Amos: Yes, an unprecedented number.

Mr. H. McCormick: Of course, the man in the street thinks we should be helping to break thela. '

"Well, so we have," retorted Mr ; J. W. Heenan.

Mr. McCormick:- The only thing. that appeals to the man in the street, though is a win; ■--..■.-

Mr. Aldridge: Well, "Boy" Charlton broke a record, but he didn't win tho final. .' ■ . ■
