Good prospects are entertained by W. Mackie, the well-known cyclist, who is now stationed in Wellington, of forming a professional cycling club here. It is stated that the proposal has been received favourably by various people interested in cycling, among them some enthusiasts who were prominently connected with tins branch of the sport years ago W Mackie himself is keen to take an active part as a competitor as well as iv other directions. When residing in Ghristchurch some years ago he won a TimaruLhnstchurch road race, and he also had many other notable victories to his credit, including championship successes. He made a trip to America, and took part in competition there with some of the world s best-known cyclists.
