"All eyes are turned toward the Ottawa Conference, with the hope that Some arrangement will be concluded which will make .the outlook for the. coming .-season more promising than at present,; because it is becoming more evident every day that some sort of protection is necessary to • prevent our only market from being flooded by the' everincreasing supplies of "butter from foreign countries." Advances for August shipment-.'are: Butter, 9d per lb;: cheese, 4%d. It is also remarked that "buyers have with-drawn-from the market, and ,no sales of butter or cheese.have,been reported during th& last week or two/
