After three days of very severe fight* ing, General Tanaka's contingent rout* ed the Chinese General Ma Chan Shan'« troops near Hailungfu, eastward of Tsitsihar, on 'Saturday. War Office dis« patches -state that \ General Ma Chaa Shan himself was identified among th#' 200 Chinese dead on the battlefield.
