A DRAWN GAME
Technical Old Boy ; s and Island Bay played a drawn game, 4-4. The teams were: —
Technical.—Redmond, Bognuda, Currie, Pullen, Beedle, Upchurch, Stewart, Torringtori, Liddicoat, Bolt, Webster. Island Bay.—Wheeler, Jacobi, Dean, Gooch, Corin, Hunter, Hayman, Farquharson, Montgomery, Mason, Ferkins. Island Bay won the toss and took advantage of the.wind. Technical immediately attacked, but were forced back by a sturdy defence. The Bay halveß played a. bustling game, and succeeded in breaking Teehnical's combination. Teehninal's defence was hard pressed, and a good run and cross by Ferkins enabled Montgomery to open the score.' Shortly after Redmond made a poor goal kick which Montgomery returned, scoring again. Technical then opened up the play, but a sturdy defence and erratic shooting prevented them scoring. Half-time arrived with the score 2-0 in favour of Island Bay.
Shortly after play had resumed a Bay back handled, Currie .scoring from the spot. Encouraged by this success, Technical set up a strong attack, and Webster placed a corner for Bolt to get the equaliser. Island Bay were again put on the defensive, anotner well-placed corner by Webster to Upehureh making the score 3-2. Island Bay launched an attack and Ferkins equalised. Immediately after, Hayman, by a fast follow up; had Redmond and ball in the net. In their eagerness to increase their lead, the Buy, defenders left Stewart and Liddicoat unmarked. These two broke away and Liddicoat once more made the scores level. Time was called shortly, after. Mr. G. Hearne was the referee.
