WINS FOR WATERSIDE AND MARIST

RESULTS AT A GLANCE

CHAMPIONSHIP TABLES

TECHNICAL OLD BOYS' GOOD PERFORMANCE

Most interest in Saturday's Soccer matches centred in the Auld Memorial Cup^competition, two first round games of which were played, Waterside beating Lower Hutt and Maris-t beating Hospital. Only one First Division championship match was played, that between^ Seatoun and. Swifts. In view of Seatoun's performance earlier in the season it was somewhat surprising to see them defeat Swifts by the heavy margin of 4 goals to 0. The playing of this match means that Seatoun have played their last championship match for the season. They finish at the bottom of the table, two points below Lower Hutt, and, in the ordinary course of events, will be relegated to Second Division football next season. Marist and Hospital still have two championship games each to play, and Petone and Swifts one each. In the Second Division, all the teams with the exception of Miramar Rangers and W.Y.M.I. have finished their matches, but the result of these two games cannot affect the championship position. Technical Old Boys win, with N.A.D.A. as runners-up.
