OAMARU, 30tn July. South Canterbury defeated North Otago to-day by 15 points to 8 in a game full of incident. North Otago played against a dazzling sun, and led by 8 points to 3 at halt-time. D. Callanan opened the score for South Canterbury from an opening by Ryan. North Otago gained the lead through a sensational try by Harle, Grainger converting. The score was further improved by Eastern crossing from a forward rush. At ■ half-time, the score was North Otago 8, South. Canterbury 3. South Canterbury generally held possession in the second spell, and were only kept out by determined tackling. Through good following-up, Ryan scored two tries, neither being converted. G. Gaffaney eoaled from a penalty and scored the final try after the bell had gone.
