BURGLARY CHARGES

Five men arrested in connection with a burglary inHinloul street and another in Taranaki street came before Mr. Justice Keed in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. They were: Reginald Bloomueld, alias Thomas, George- James Frederick. Ferguson, Arthur Cornelius Drummond, against whom there were two charges of. .breaking, entering, aud >th"eft and .two. charges of receiving stolen property; John Bourne Baylis, one charge of breaking, entering, and theft and one of receiving, stolen property; and Francis Leo Hoare, charged with receiving tobacco and cigarettes of about £32 in value, knowing them/to have been dishonestly obtained. . Bloomfield, Ferguson, and Drummond pleaded.not guilty and were remanded for trial: Hoare pleaded guilty and Baylis said he pleaded guilty, to all except the charge of receiving. : They; also were rema.nded.; ..-■.;

.The premises in respect of which the charges are laid are the warehouse of W. D. Dobson and Co., Ltd., in .Taranaki street, where ;it is alleged Bloonifield* Ferguson, and Prummond stole bottles of liquor and cigarettes, of a total value of £76 lls: 6d, .and the Self-Help Grocery store, in Eintoul street. From this shop it. is alleged that Bloomfield, Ferguson, Drummond, and Baylis stole goods valued at £31.. 2s. 2d. ;
