JTOUNG MAN'S DOWNFALL

In the Magistrate's Court to-day, John.Thomas Hartley, a clerk, aged 26, Admitted-'that by representing, in one case, that he came from a well-known city tailor,.and in others that he was 'tin the staff of the Union Sfeani iShip -Company, he had obtained four overcoats,: valued at £19. Bs, and a pair of skates from various city firms.

EomarHng that Hartley had been convicted of theft, breach of his proTjation, and. obtaining credit by fraud, fho Magistrate sentenced him to twelve months' imprisonment.
