f All roads seemed to : lead to the old Jfcinisterial Eesidence in Tiriakori road yesterday afternoon, when a '' Musicals jand The' Dansant," organised by' Mrs. Wood for- the Smith.Family |]?unds, : was held with'great success. The Marge and lofty rooms of the. old residence , were crowded with guests, and brought back to. many remembrance of brilliant balls, and receptions that had been held there years ago, and also the memory of many famous visitors who had been- entertained there. Glowing log fires were in all the rooms, and . giant bowls. of ' winter hydrangeas and red birch, with here and there a bowl of vivid yellow narcissi, decorated the music and diningrooms. On the billiard table was a huge crystal bowl of narcissi, and yellow chrysanthemums were arranged •in the entrance hall. ..■.•". .

-Mrs. Wood wore a gracefully flared frock of honey-beige and leaf green patterned chiffon, a wide green felt hat and a fox fur.

An interesting musical .programme, which was much enjoyed, included two items by the - Symoris-Ellwood-Short trio; some Russian Folk songs, by ■Madame Merlin, who%e accompaniments were played by M. Paul Vinogradoff; violin solob by Miss AvaSymons; Mexican folk songs by. Mrs. Dorothie,Ashford; songs by Miss Monica Malfroy; and a duet by Mrs. Bernard .Wood and Mr. Herbert Wood, who also .} sang several solos. . Mr. , Gordon Short was the accompanist. Afterwards tea was served by members of the Smith Family ladies'. committee and a band of young-people. ■ . y.zffMt. Smith" read a. letter from the :Hon. G.;W.
