A QUESTION OF COURTESY
(To the Editor;) Sir,—Will you permit me space to reply last mght's '-Post"? Certainly our letter hv M Ju. stlce^ Association is.as quoted by, lie. Arcus m only mentioning the question of women police as the subject of discussion by our proposed deputation. Ihe addition of the words "and other matters ot interest and importance to the young people of the city" are obviously. an accidental addition by the person importing the meeting, and do not appear in the resolution pasteed at the meeting and also appearing in "The Post." Whatever the subject to be discussed by our deputation, the discourtesy of the Justices' Association in curtly refusing to receive it remains- just as deplorable, and is not to be hidden by a quibble over words. To refuse to receive a deputation because the Justices-" Association does not agree with its views appears to us to be illogical. Had the association been in agreement with us then a deputation on the subject: would certainly have been a waste of time for all concerned. It was felt by the National Council of Women of New Zealand thatit was unfortunate, that at the annual conference of the Justices Association, where the remit dealing with women police, was thrown, out, no woman was present to state the women's point of view. For this* reasom.:the Wellington branch of the N.C.W..was instructed to approach italocar Justices' Association to see if it were not possible to convince at least some of its members "that this reform is long; overdue in-New Zealand.— I am, etc./ ; . ■ ■ '•'.'■."■•;■■';'.■ : /.'" : . :-::S.'N.
