LANTERN 'LECTURE.
A lantern evening was given la3t Wednesday by Mr. A. P. Godber In the Church Hall, Silverstream. Thero was a good attendance of adults and children. The first ritrf of the programme comprised a selection of views of New Zealand scenery, Interspersed with humorous views for the jounger folk A number of views of the Itamsgate lifeboat service were screened to the accompaniment of a suitable hymn,.sung by the elder girls. The second portion of the evening was devoted to a lecturetto on the Treaty of Waltangl.' Apart from ■ its historical interest, special attention has been directed to this subject since the munificent sift by the Gov-ernor-General and Lady Bledlsloe of the Waltanel Estate to Ihe 'people of New' Zealand. Pictures of the British .resident's house, a number of the. Maori chiefs who signed the Treaty,, and their moko signatures, and of the Vice-Regal donors of the Waitangi Estate were shown. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded thj lecturer. . '.:■. . . .
