CHEISTCHUECH, This Day
William Thomas' Lindsay, county clerk for the Waipara. County, : was arrested to-day by Detective-Sergeant O'Brien and brought before Justices of the Peace at AVaikari "charged'-iyitli forgery under the Electoral Act. The accused was remanded to Christchurch on Sth July, and bail was allowed at £230. . •■- ;■ ■■ n--
The charge is a sequel to tho recent Magisterial inquiry into an election in two ridings in the'county, after which the poll was upset, .it .being stated by the Magistrate that. serious irreguilarities had been ■ disclosed.
