of mischief^but he was not wicked, be- „ canße there are no wicked elves or fair,'ies. - -/ , One day the fairies planned to go and A look at the sea, but did not tell "• Brownie, because they thought they J would be so much happier if they kept .'"their plan a secret. So off they set •without a word to anyone. '_ Arriving by the sea, they played ~, amongst the children on the sands, saw \ the Punch and Judy, aud gambolled about until it was nearly time for them to .go. back.. _, Before starting off home they thought vthey would like to go to the water's '-edge, as they were very fondr of water. But alasj pupr^airy. Blncbell fell in, - and "was rapidly being carrjed. out to .sea when she-was seized, by.-the arms, and safely brought to* shore, none the ■■.worse for her wetting. k Upon turning round, to thank her rescuer, who do you think it wasf . Why, • that young scamp Brownie! He had 'Gaeen the fairies start ofif and had followed, and had just been in time,to siescue his little friend, for he was -really very fond of the fairies. t ; Then it was found that Fairy Blue- • -bell had lost all the colour from her "garments, and that it had turned',the -'. sea into a beautiful blue; and so it re- _= mains to this day. * - .
