(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH,This Day. A new election of the Tramway ■Union executive will be necessary as the result of the policy of retrenchment adopted by the Tramway Board. Already six. representatives of the traffic division on the executive, including the president, Mr. J. Matheson, have received notice terminating their engagement, while two further members arfi also reported to be affected.

. In all 49 men have been dismissed. The union secretary says that seniority in service has apparently not been taken into account. "We cannot iathom how the board has made its selection," he. says.
