OTTAWA CONFERENCE
DOMINION'S DELEGATES
ANNOUNCEMENT TO-NIGHT?!
The personnel of the delegation to represent New Zealand at the Imperial Economic Conference at Ottawa, together with an outline of the broad policy-to be put forward by -theGovernment, is expected to be made this evening.
The-Prime Minister (the Right.Hon. G. W. Forbes) remarked to-day that he had been urged from all sides for months past to declare as soon as possible the personnel of the Dominion's delegation, but the delay had arisen probably for ,the same reason that other parts of the.Empire had not yet appointed their representatives: because, there had been no advice as to the agenda. The Government had now received that information, and ho hoped to be able to have the whole matter finally discussed at a meeting of Cabinet this afternoon, and to announce this evening the personnel of the delegation, including the advisers on behalf of various interests and organisations, and also to issue a statement indicating the policy to be pursued by New Zealand at the Conference, ff
Mr. Forbes intimated that the delegation -would bp kept as' small as possible. Beeognised representatives of the various exporting interests would form part of the official delegation, but their expenses would not be payable by the Government. Their advicewould be sought, when required, on. points which aTose during the Conference proceedings. While nothing is definite as to the probable direct representatives of the Government at the head of the delega-. tion, it is regarded as almost certain that the Prime Minister (the Bight Hon. G. W. Forbes) will go, accompanied by the Minister of Customs (the Hon. W. Downie Stewart).
