CROQUET NOTES

END OF SEASON

The official closing of the Xgaio Croquet Club iras held recently, when Mrs. Chatwin (president) presented the trophies -won during the season, as follows:—B champion, Mrs. Johnson; runner-up, Mrs. Guy (Mrs. Chatwin's trophies). C champion, Mrs. Steptoe; runner-up, Mrs. Furness (Mrs. McArthur's trophies). Silver Buttons: Senior, Mrs. L. Hills; junior, Mrs. Furjiess (presented yearly by Mrs. \V. Niehol); club doubles, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Phillips (Mis. Pearson and Mrs. Johnson's trophies); highest points gained during season at sports: First, Mrs. Hills and Mrs. McArthur; second, Mrs. Chatwin. Competitions for the day were won as follows:—Golf, Mrs. Thompson; tunnel, Mrs. Nutt; take-off, Mrs. Guy; French, Mrs. Williamson; ladder, Mrs. Furness. Prizes for these were presented by Mesdames Williamson, Chatwin, Colpus, Guy, Hill, Bringans, Coles, and Venn. On behalf of the club, Mrs. Turksma (vice-president) presented gifts to Mr. and Mrs. Chatwin (as an appreciation of their kindness in' placing their lawn at. the disposal of the club), Mrs. Johnson (club captain), Mrs, Colpus (treasurer), and Mrs. Venn, secretary. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Dougal for kindly attending to the teas during the season.
