JEWELLERY STOLEN

■ Trays of rings, fifteen gold' watches, and a large assortment of other valu'; able articles were stolen from Beaver's jewellery store on Lambton, quay after the shop froji* had been completely wrecked by a du?t bin lid. ; The shop receiyed the full force of the mob as it surged:: across from Kirkcaiaie and Stains', ana in a few niiniites practically everything pf value in the windows had been stolen. Lady assistants in the back of the premises were powerless to stop the pillage, and were bombarded from; the street with oranges.5 ;>■.--■• •

It has not yet been,possible to agcer' tain, the extent of the loss, but it is

believed that it will bo the largest of any individual shop in the city. A special riot insurance was carried.

Lloyd's jewellery store had one window broken, and it is thought that some goods were stolen. .. £~

Other jewellers, with the exception of Messrs. Sherwpod and Sons, escaped loss of stock, but had windows broken.
