AUCKLAND, 10th May.

After pleading guilty -of an attempt to commit suicide, an unemployed man •was discharged by the Magistrate; upon his consenting to stay at., a .Salvation. Army home for a week before he went home. He is ; aged 24, is married, and is by occupation a butcher. '. "This unfortunate man has' been out of work for some .time, and there, has been domestic trouble," said DetectiveSergeant Kelly. ' "However, his wife is prepared to take him back, and, if so I think everything will be all right." ' It seems that on receipt ?of Ja letter indicating her husband's intention' to •commit suicide by.jumping.over Graf-, ton Bridge, the wife hurried to the Newton police station, with the result that -a temporary constable hurried to the bridge.
