CALL ON PARLIAMENT
MAYOE TO TAKE PAET
BIG GATHERING AT BASIN
A gathering of some 4000 relief workers, with 400 or more additional on their way in from Miramar, assembled at the Basin Reserve at 2 p.m. to-day. The gathering resolved to march down to Parliament, but a letter was received from the Mayor and Mr. Goldsmith offering to accompany the deputation to Parliament and endeavour to obtain some extra concessions for them regarding the new 'scheme. This offer was accepted -by the meeting, and it was resolved to send a small deputation to the Mayor and-'Mr.' Goldsmith to convey that decision.
In the meantime the arrival of the Miramar contingent is being awaited. The proceedings were most orderly in every way.
