SPANISH CLUB.
The Iberian Society of 2\~e\v Zealand (the Spanish Club) held another successful evening on Wednesday. Amongst-tho learners were some who possess a knowledge of French. These show signs of making very rapid progress under the skiU ful guidance of the president, Mr. W. T. Goodwin.' Spanish grammar is very similar to that of the French, but considerablyeasier and its .pronunciation is simple. Spanish - conversation was carried on by the ■ advanced students, several of whom acquired a knowledge of the language in South America. The Iberian Society welcomes all interested in Spanish whether they know anything of the language or not.
Repairing the famous tapestries* in Hampton Court Palace has been going on for nearly twenty years. It may take four or five skilled workers two or three years, at a cost of about £2000 in wages, to mend one piece twenty-five feet by sixteen feet.
