CROQUET SEASON ENDS

WOBURN CLUB

The Woburn Croquet Club closed recently after a very successful season. The president (Mrs. Monks) congratulated Mrs. Jensen, runner-up in the handicap singles at the recent tournament, and also Mosdames Martin, Coatman, Barker, Hiddleston, and Mclntosh for winning the B shield for the interclub'games. Thanks were given to Mr.. Jones, the green superintendent and his assistant, and to Mrs. Tamblyn and Miss Hamilton for looking after the teas during tho season. Trophies were presented as follows: Intermediate Championship, Mrs. Monks (Mrs Cleland's trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Jensen (club trophy). B Championship, Mrs. Barker (Mrs. Dempsey's trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Mclntosh. Handicap Singles, Mrs. Monks (Mrs. Sutcliffe's trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Cleland (club trophy). Club Pairs, Mesdames Cleland and Wilson. Bridge players' cups and trophies, Mesdames Eowe and Alexander; runners-up, Mesdames Jensen and Piper. C. Championship, Mrs. Jameson (Mrs. Lambert's trophy). C Handicap, Mrs. . Jameson. Competitions for the . day were won as follows: Mrs. Alexander (tunnel), Mrs. Quin (angles), Mrs. Wilson (angles), Mesdames Eowe and Barker (French), Mrs. Cleland (golf), Mesdames Martin and Jones (target). These prizes were presented by Mesdames Tamblyn, Quin, Martin, Mclntosh, Barker, and Coatman. On behalf of the club Mrs. Coatman presented to the president (Mrs. Monks) a leather shopping bag, and Mrs. Jameson also presented her with a gold mounted fountain pen ana pencil from the beginners. Mrs. Alexander also presented Mrs. Eowe (secretary) with a handsome crystal vase from the members for her very efficient work during the year.
