COLD AND SUNNY

The cyclone responsible , for the recent spell of cold' and unpleasant weather moved away eastward last night, and this morning there was a welcome change to better conditions. Moderate to strong southerlies and further rain prevailed yesterday in eastern districts, but the weather in the western half of the South Island was mainly fine. Tho aoutherlies rapidly died down last night, and since thip morning winds have become more variable and there has been a general improvement in the weather.
