PLUMBERS' EXAMINATIONS

The secretary of the Plumbers' Board of New Zealand (Mr. J. W. Buchanan) wrote to the meeting of .the); Board of: Governors of tho Teolmi.:al College last evening, stating that ov/ing-to the small number of candidates desiring ,to sit for the Plumbers' Board's examination throughout New Zealand, and the faer, that it would be impossible to linance the examination without a considerable fgrant from Government funds, the examination arranged for the Ctii and 7th May would not be held. Several members of the board'expressed the opinion that this would cause ,an injustice to the 0 boys from the college who were ready to sit for the examination, while there were other boys, it was believed, who w_ere ready to &it in the district, winch extended to Packakarilri and Lower Hutt. If the boys were unable to sit for this examination, they would not be able to sit again until the end of the year. The Plumbers.' Board, it was stated, could not meet then- usual contribution to the expenses, whiuli covered provision the necessary material, and the payment of the examiner and, necessary supervisors.
