GRADING OF TEACHERS
Provision' is to be' made in rthe ;Pinance Bill, to be introduced' in • the House of Representatives this week, for the raising, of the minimum age of admission to primary schools from, five to six years, as. was recommended by the National Expenditure Commission. Another education clause in the Bill will affieet teachers in schools whose grade is altered by reason of reduction in the roll number. At present a teacher's salary is not affected byr reduction, in grading of the school, but it is now proposed that unless a teasher accepts an offer of a, position in a school of a grade.in keeping .with the salary he is receiving, his salary is to be reduced in accordance with, the reduction in'the status of the school.
