LOWER HUTT CASES

The following motor vehicle cases wore,heard at Lower Hutt on Tuesday before Messrs. M. llodgins and A. J. Gearing, J.P.s: —

J. L. Parrant, for attempting to pass another vehicle on tho bridge approach, was fined 20s. - Exceeding tho speed limit cost H. W. Clarko and H. G. Miller each 40s, and E. R. Allen, W. E. Jones, and G. R. Harris each 20s. Exceeding the limit of 15 miles per hour over the bridge cost P. Dredge 10s. A. Patterson, for a similar offence, E. ■Semi, for'failing to give way to traffic on his right, John Gordon, for exceeding the speed limit, and W. Buchanan/for not having lights, were each ordered to pay the costs only. A fine of 20s was inflicted on L. Wales for failing to obey tho instructions of a, traffic officer.

' A. R. Perry was charged under the Motor Regulations with travelling at excessive speed round a curve (at the corner^of Railway avenue and Hutt road) where the view ahead was less than forty feet. He did not appear, and a fine of 40s was inflicted/ In a similar case relating to the same corner, J. R. Welsh defended the charge, and produced a plan showing that at no point- was the view restricted to forty feet The Bench visited the locality, -and decided that the defejidant/had. his contention, and tho case Was dismissed.
