' CANBERRA, This Day. Events in the fight which is being waged by the Commonwealth Government against New South Wales for the recovery of the payment on behalf of that State of overseas interest have advanced a further stage, following a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, when instructions were issued to the State taxation officer of New South Wales, Mr. McMahon, to hand- over to the Commonwealth Treasurer all documents relating to State and Federal income taxation.-

A special "Gazette" has been issued amending regulations under the Financial Agreement Enforcement Act to provide that all documents relating to taxation be handed over to the Commonwealth Treasurer on demand. The Commonwealth has power under; the regulations forcibly to enter the New South Wales State offices and seize whatever documents it requires.
