CHANGE EXPECTED
FAIRLY GENERAL RAIN
. Since yesterday the anti-cyclone has .moved to the eastwards," and there-has 1 been a general fall ■in barometers.' This has been brought about by tbib presence of an intense tropical cyclone to the north and the. approach of a depression from the southern Tasman Sea. The latter has been gradually filling, up, but the cyclone is still vigorous, and this morning was centred north-east of Norfolk Island, where at' 9 a.m. a heavy south-west gale was blowing. North ? east winds have become strong,in the far north and this morning rain-was falling in the Auckland Peninsula. Over the remainder of the Dominion winds have been moderate and variable, but mainly froni some easterly quarters,"- and the weather although more cloudy than yesterday was still mostly fine. , • ' It was fine yesterday at all the"cliief centres but at Auckland light rain fell during the night. ') The forecast is for moderate to/ strong north-east to east winds of gaJS^ force in the far north changing to strong v southerlies generally within the next twenty-four hours. The weather is\ expeetdd to become unsettled, cloudy, and misty with fairly general rain. Heavy falls are probable in the northern and East Coast districts .of the North Island with some flooding, but scattered falls only in tho South Island. Temperatures will become cold. • ;
