MARLBOROUGH RACES
THE HORSES IN, FORM
GOOD ACCEPTANCES
s Excellent acceptances have been received, for the opening day, to-morrow, o£ the Maryborough Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, and there should be some fine racing on the Waterlea Course. It'is Expected! that the going will,be in splendid' order. , : . ' The stable presided over by.T. R..George for Mr. J. J. Corry holds, a strong hand -- throughout the day, for it hasten horses 'claiming twelve engagements in the five galloping events scheduled.-far" to-morrow. The.principal.race to-morrow is the Flaxbourne Handicap,- and it is quite probable that the Corry bracket 'of four horses— Make. ICTp^ ..' Landmark,' Cessation, . and ImateagifL .the first-named figuring at the top' of the handicaps—will not' be allowed , to have matters' all their own way, for the other four runners threaten to make ■it exceedingly interesting. Ravine has improved of late; and he showed-his true -form last Saturday. With/the benefit of -the full allowance he. may again be hard to beat. Then there- is Atholspear, who .was noticed finishing. fast to get right on the heels of the. placed horses the sec"ond day at AWapuiii in the race won by Speedmjnt. Atholspear has done that before and has hot followed it up as might .have been expected, but the comparatively - small field' to-morrow will assist him. .Black Mint surprised last week at Nelson, and now that he has.struck a.^winning vein -he cannot be overlooked. Summed Up., rSt looks as if the bracket will have something to do to beat Atholspear and Ravine. ' • ,' , ■:'■■ '' Atholspear and Ravine also appear in • th"c Delta Handicap, the open • seven f ur:long race, and they should run well, although the distance may vbe a bit short ior the former:.-. The."■ Corry, bracket, -Kozan, Miiadi; and Imateagirl, is a for;mMable one, and perhaps will be the-saf-est proposition^ ..•:- "■;.,' Thornproof; is still eligible V for the ■Novice Stakes, and he meets'.the others in that class_ on much | better'terms. .
