LODGE MEETINGS

A.D. Bro. E. Burl^y presided over a good attendance .at the recent meetingof Mewburn Lodge, No. 90, U.A.0.D., Karori. Visitors were present from Excelsior, Pacific, Pride of Brooklyn, Holly, Coronation, Melrose, Island Bay,- and Mistletoe (Christehurch) lodges. The D.P., Bro. Jennings, and the E.A.C. were also present to do honour to P.D.P. Bro. 1. Lyall, who was during the evening the recipient of a P.D.P. collar and diploma. Among those wko spoke were the DP elect, P.T. Bro. Tobin, B.D.P; S . Bros. Abel Uauntlett, Liddel, and Barley. The lodge's ritual competition was also held. Songs and humorous items were given by Bros Barley, Liddel, ICuchj and Smith.

' The monthly meeting of Kilbirnie Tent, 1.0. R., No. 82, was held last week, when i3ro. F. Johnson, C.R., presided over a' good attendance. One member was reported sick. Two . candidates were proposed for membership. As the evening was an open night business on hand was disposed of as quickly as possible, and Sister W. Badger took charge of the social, • which took the form of a hard-up night. Sister Jefferies was awarded the ladies' prize, and Bro. Hildreth the men's. -Two competitions were held, Br.o. Hildreth being the winner of one and Mr. Hems of the other. Dancing and supper' completed the evening. ;

Wellinßton Distritt Council, G.U.0.0.F., held a meeting, recently at which Bro. J. Murphy, G.T., was the official visitor from Grand Lodge. It was decided to judge the ritual of the competing branches when visiting them for the purpose of installing the newly-elected'officers, the judges being Bros. Casey and Savory, and Sister Hoop-

A motion of sympathy was passed in respect of the late Bro. MeLaughlin, of the Druids' and Oddfellows' Orders. At the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Central Branch, G.U.0.0.F., Bro. Fuller,. N.G., presided over a large attendance. Sick pay was granted to two members. During- the evening Bro. Kyde, P.N.G.,.1 presented P.N;G. Collars to Sister Hooper ' and Bro. Cooper. . Bros. McQueen and' Savory presented their report of the work done by the conference. Two candidates were proposed for membership. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal OnsloW. Branch, No. 14, G.U.0.0.F.i was held at: Khandallah last week, Bro. G. Laurenson, ■'■ N.G., presiding. Four new members ■ were initiated. It was decided to enter, for the ritual competition. Bro. J. A. Brown was nominated as delegate to tha - district meeting. He tendered his resignation as R.S.V.G., and Sister Hooper was elected to that position. Bros. Bailey, and Brown were elected as trustees .with • Bro. G. Laurenson. Sister Anderson. N.G., was presiding officer at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge, Manchester Unity! Oddfellows. Bro. McGreeyy reported on. / the F.S. Dispensary. A number of visitors were present from Loyal Britannia, Pe-: tone, and Newtown Lodges, to whom • Lodge Honours were accorded.
