ANNUAL REUNION
"OLD GIRLS' DAY1
For several years now Sthe Old Girls' Association of the Wellington Girls' College has made a feature of "Old Girls' Day," when ex-pupils of the college meet and enjoy a day of sports and many amusements. On Saturday last there was a large gathering for this annual event, and the fine weather made the afternoon doubly" enjoyable. • A tennis match between past and present pupils, for the Sir Kenneth Douglas Cup, resulted in a win for the "ex-pupils." Mrs. Dawson (president of the association) received the guests, among whom were Miss V. M. Greig, Miss M. McLean, Miss Batham, Miss Kersbaw, Mrs. Dall, Mrs. Huntington, Mrs. Cornish, Miss Gibson, and Mr. Moore (former caretaker of the college). Afternoon tea was served in the Central Hall, and the guests took this opportunity for renewing old friendships and exchanging reminiscences. Miss McLean then presented the Sir Kenneth Douglas Cup to the captain of the Old Girls' tennis .team. ...
The reading of the annual report followed. This contained an. outline of the social service work done by tne Old Girls' Association during the year. Much good work Had been done by' the members of the Old Girls' Club, including the making of "woollies" for St. Barnabas Home, and assisting with the afternoon tea at the Unemployed Women's Club every week. Donations had been made to St. Barnabaß Home for the maintenance of the "Old Girls' Babe," to Wellington Girls' College nrize. fund—Prisoners' Tobacco Fund, and Post Guide Company. A very successful "Old Girls". Concert had^been held during the year, and the proceeds from this, together" with those from the fancy stall at the Parents'; Association garden party, the ice cream stall at the college sports, and one jumble sale had gone towards the association's social service work. An "Old Girls' Blazer" had been decided upon last year, and this was recommended to all ex-pupils of the college. ,
The election of officers took place, and a motion was carried that the new committee not exceed fifteen, four of whom would be executive officers. The following were elected: Patrons, Miss M. McLean, Miss V. M. Greig; president, Mrs. Dawson; vice-presidents, Miss Batham, Mrs. Dall, Miss B. Williams, Miss Rainforth, Mrs. Cornish, and members of the college staff; secretary, Miss Beryl Stewart; assistant-secretary, Miss Alice Mason; treasurer, Mrs. Carter; committee, Breta Holm, Helen Mitchell, Lilian Mitchell, Pat Shannon (on leave), FreMa Porter, Doris Mathieson, Nancy Hewitt, Sybil Swinburne, Myrtle Gapes, Kae Anderson, Roma Bitossi. The outgoing committee members were thanked for their untiring and unselfish work during their period in office.
"High tea" was served to about 80 guests, and judging by the noise of chatter and laughter .everyone seemed to be having a "right royal" time. This concluded a very happy day; the usual evening programme being abolished so as to enable those interested to attend the Shakespearian recital.
