NIGHTMARCH AGAIN
SECOND RANDWICK WIN ' (From "Vedottc.") SYDNEY, 31st March. While Nightmarch was considered something to bet on in the Cumberland Stakes at Kandwick yesterday, his backers had' several anxious moments, and a good deal of credit is due to E. Eeedjor his'riding. Johnnie Jason went with him :'over the.last half-mile, anfl Veilmond joined in in. the straight. A furlong from home Johnnie Jason looked to have Nightmarch's measure, and Vcilmond was challenging, too, but running about. jßeed' waited for -the last- run, and .Nightmarch was folding the opposition decisively at the finish. Eeed'rode undoubtedly, ono of 'his best races. Pike on Voilmoud certainly had a stiff task with his wayward mount, but he was outgeneralled by the Newv.Zealander all the same. A story was received here this week that Nightmarch shad been sold for 1000 guineas for stud purposes, but A. McAuley repudiates it. Mr. O. E. Robertson, b.lood stock salesman, states that whilo.Nightmarch is for sale the price is a much higher one.
