ROUSED FROM SLEEP

O'CONNOR'S ARREST

ACCUSED'S MOVEMENTS

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

DtJNEDIN, This Day.

O'Connor was asleep, and gave himself up quietly. O'Connor did not possess a shotgun of the type found on the store . verandah. "When a search, was made of his possessions, cartridges were found in the pocket of a coat, on which were bloodstains. O'Connor's finger had been bleeding. Blood marks were also found on the window, door, and verandah of Taber's residence, where O'Connor had knocked-for some time.' :-.••■. Apparently O'Connor, "who left. Ms home, early yesterday morning to go shooting on the hills at the back of Tomahawk, with' a/ man named Dun-, ford, and did not return home till after the shooting had occurred, had spent the, evening at an old house near the Tomahawk Lagoon, about a quarter of a mile away from Buchanan's home. When ho made his first visits to Buchanan's and Taber's store he was not carrying a gun, but he' was seen at 12.30 sitting, on the roadside opposite the store with, a gun lying across his knees. Both Buchanan and O'Connor were on friendly terms, and their families were in the habit of exchanging visits. There is a suggestion, however, that relations were affected by a domestic matter. O 'Connor is about 25 years of age, and his child is Only a few months old. Buchanan was popular in the district where ho was known to be up against it as the result of unemployment. ■
