EASTER TOURNEY

LYALL BAY FINALISTS

The final of the Eastern Suburbs bowling tournament was contested between two Lyall Bay rinks, skipped by Reid and Naylor, on the Hataitai green yesterday afternoon. The victory went to Reid by a margin of 8 points. The teams and scores were: Howse, Bradley, Hazelwood, J. Reid (s), 21; Deare, Raven,' Brackenridge, Naylor (s), 13. Reid took the lead early in the game, and the score mid-way was 19-7 in his favour. Towards the end of play Naylor's rink became more aggressive, and dead heads occurred on the nineteenth . and twentieth heads, but Reid's lead was too great to be overtaken, and he won by 21-13. Winners and runners-up received the hearty congratulations of bowlers put, out in the earlied rounds and spectators. It was unfortunate that, notwithstanding the early start made in the morning rounds, the game was not concluded until dusk, with a distinctly cool evening as a contrast to the really perfect conditions of the morning and afternoon.
