CLELLAND THE CHAMPION The Shandon Golf Club's tournament concluded yesterday. The semi-finals of the championship both produced good golf. A. Clelland beat C. Armstrong, 2 and 1, and W. R. Stuckey beat J. Duncan, 1 up. The final resulted in a win for Clelland, 3 and ». Cleland played consistently from tee to green, whereas Stuckey was a little weak in the short game. Nevertheless Stuckey produced some of the best golf he has played. Clelland was out in 36 to Stuckey's 38, the cards reading: Clelland: 445345452. Stuckey: 553445453. The first three holes in the second half were halved, and Stuckey reduced the lead of 3 to 2 at the next. Clelland, however, regained it with a 2. He lost the next hole, and then had another win for the match. The inward cards, completed to the eighteenth green, were:— - Clelland: 554625464—41. Stuckey: 554544554-^l. The medal match was won by F. B. Carr, 78-12—06. G. McNair, 84-16—68, was next, followed by K. Jeffery, 80-12—68. The afternoon four-ball best ball bogey was won by Dr. Lee Jones and J. Taylor, 11 up on the colonel. C. Hay-Mackenzie and A. K. Jackson were next, 10 up. After the championship had been decided, Mr. J. M. Ellis presented the prizes on behalf of the president, who was unavoidably absent. Mr. Ellis paid a tribute to the splendid work'put in by the greenkeeper, Mr. L. Dooley. The greens carried 70 players daily throughout the tdurnament. Colonel Hughes expressed the visitors' appreciation of the catering and the excellent arrangements organised for the enjoyment of competitors.
