The track was in splendid order, and the attendance was the best seen 'at Kandwick for a considerable time. ' : The Sydney Cup was worth 3656 soys, but the winner provided the poorest exhibition of riding In the history of the race. The reluctance of the jockeys to make the pace resulted in the spectacle of horses racing with their heads in the air, and taking lmin 51% sec for the first mile. . The New Zealarider, Admiral Drake, appeared to have an excellent chance at the distance, but was outstayed by Johnnie Jason. LA PEROUSE HANDICAP, a sweepstakes of 6 soys each, 500 soys. added; six furlongs. Holdfast. 9.6 (Scanlon) 1 Casque DOr, 8.4 (J. Munro) 2 Parkwood, 8.12 (Dickson) 3 Fifteen started. Holdfast smartly ran to the front on the rise of the barrier, and thereafter was in front all the way. Two lengths. Time, lmin 13Usec. EASTER STAKES, of 5 soys each, 400 soys. added; for two-year-olds; seven furlongs. Milaiitheon, 8.5 (McCarten) 1 Oro, 8.5 (Cook) 2 Golden Flash, 7.12 (Welsh) 3 Ten started. Milantheon and Sanballat led early from Tingalba. Milantheon took charge at the turn and won by a length. Time, lmin 2"sec. BIRAGANBIL HANDICAP, a sweepstakes of 5 soys each, 400 soys added; for three-year-olds; one mile. Chatham, 9.13 (Cook). 1 Rory O'More, 7.9 (Dempsey) ' 2 Golden Gate, 8.9 (Knox) 3 Fourteen started. Rory O'More led into the straight clear of Golden Gate, Chatham, and Movie Star. Under severe pressure Chatham got up to win by halt a length.
