TRAPPED IN HATAITAI

TUNNEL

When replacing an electric globe in the Mount Victoria tramway tunnel on Saturday afternoon, Alexander Scott, a linesman, employed by tho Tramways Department, was forced to jump from a ladder to avoid being hit by a tram. He received a compound fracture of the left leg. Whea the tram entered the city end of the narrow tunnel Mr. Scott made a signal, but the tram continued to approach, and at the last moment tho linesman jumped to the1- ground. The tram stopped immediately, and Mr. Scott was taken to the Hataitai portal, where lie was met by the City Ambulance and conveyed to the Hospital.
