SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
There is still a cyclone centre in the neighbourhood of the Kermadec Islands, while pressure is very high at Chatham Island: The westerly depression advancing from Australia has caused a slight fall of pressure in the South Island, where winds have become northerly, but has made little impression on the weather. Over the North Island, though winds have been south-easterly and strong to gale force in many places, the rain has been confined practically to the eastern and northern portions of the Auckland Province. Some heavyfalls are reported from the far North.
