MAGISTRATE'S COURT
To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. E. Page, S.M.
Harold Wain Frear, a cook, aged 38, was fined £2 and ordered to repay the price of the bottle, 14s, on a charge of stealing a bottle of whisky from the Te Aro Hotel. He was convicted and discharged for drunkenness.
Making his third appearance within six months on a charge of drunkenness, Joseph Murphy, aged 58, was fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment. On various charges of using indecent language, assault, and resisting the police Miles Ormerod, aged 30,/ and Vincent Patrick Robinson, aged 30, were remanded until Friday.
Failure to make full restitution during a period of two years he was on probation for theft led to the appearance of Archibald Gillies, aged 35, on a charge of committing a breach of the terms of his release on probation. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months, on condition he pays £12 10s forthwith.
